A cat-lovers lingerie brand in Nottingham has opened its first store.
Camron Pink Fur Lingerie, which launched in the city’s Furness area last week, is an offshoot of the designer’s lingerie line called Bamboo.
“It’s just really about cat love,” co-owner Sarah Moore said.
“There’s a big trend in cat love and I think it’s a really beautiful thing.”
When we started we thought, ‘Oh, well, we could just have a little shop for cats, but we have other ideas.’
“It just feels right for us.”
Ms Moore said the cat-focused lingerie is more tailored to the cat’s needs.
“The cat is a bit of a silent partner, so we’re doing a little bit more of a focus on cat fashion,” she said.
“The cat has been my inspiration for a long time, but it’s only recently I’ve seen what it’s like for cats to live in a space.”‘
Cat-friendly’ trend has seen a surge in popularity since the end of the pandemic.
There have been more than 100 cat-friendly stores and cafes in the UK, including two cat-themed eateries.
In 2017, a cat-related cafe opened in Nottingham and in the first six months of 2018, there were five cat-lover cafes in England and Wales.
Ms Moore, who was born a cat and has two cats, said she has been impressed by the trend.
“People are so excited about cat clothing and cats are a very sexy, playful thing, so I think cats are really a natural fit for the cat lifestyle,” she told the local newspaper.
“Cat clothing is cat-oriented and it has a lot of different colours, and it’s got a really great cat feel to it, so it’s really cool.”
Ms Shultz said she wanted to create a line that cat owners could shop in.
“I love cat accessories, and I’ve got lots of cats that I’d like to get some new cat accessories,” she explained.
“But also, we want to create some really cat-y, cat-styled items, which are cat-appropriate.”
